Every week, the same phrase can be heard around campus: “there is nothing to do this weekend.”
Fortunately, this weekend is a different story as All Time Low is coming to Western Illinois University this Saturday, Sept. 29, just before starting “The Rockshow at the End of the World Tour.”
Fresh off this summer’s Warped Tour, All Time Low will be at the Union Grand Ballroom with doors opening at 7 p.m. and starting the show at 8 p.m.
University Union Board picked All Time Low based upon voting that was done on the STARS website toward the end of last year.
For those unfamiliar with the group, All Time Low is a pop punk band that formed in 2003 in Towson, Md. They named themselves after a New Found Glory song, and started out l playing covers of other pop punk bands such as Blink-182 and Green Day in high school.
The band members have been touring almost constantly since they formed and opened for pop punk heavy weights like Fall Out Boy and Green Day. For several years now, they find themselves headlining their own tours. They are currently on tour in support of their fifth studio album “Don’t Panic,” which will bereleased Oct. 9 by Hopeless Records.
Despite the fact “Don’t Panic” won’t be released until next month, they’ve uploaded three songs to YouTube from it. “The Reckless and the Brave,” “For Baltimore” and “Somewhere in Never Land,” give fans a sense and preview of the new album. They have also added promos of the album to YouTube, allowing fans to hear their new material and get a behind the scenes look at the work they put in to making this album and going on tour.
Instead of sitting around and complaining about how there is nothing to do in Macomb this weekend, head to the Union Grand Ballroom and see All Time Low in all its glory.
The tickets are all general admission and the prices are $10 for Western students in advance and $15 at the door. The public can see the show for $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the Hainline Box Office in Brown Hall, Monday-Friday 12-5 p.m. or by calling the box office at 309/298-2900. They can also be purchased by visiting Etix.com.
