Entertainment Counting down the greatest 007s

James Bond has had an impressive career since his creation in 1953. He has starred in 14 novels by his creator Ian Fleming plus a couple dozen more by others and 23 official movies.
Out of these movies, an impressive six actors have taken on the role of 007. Here, presented for a great amount of scrutiny, nitpicking and arguing is a list from best to worst of all the Bonds.
1. Sean Connery, six films.
Why: Connery was the original, the first and the one to set the standard when it came to playing James Bond. He was dashing, good looking and everything the world needed in a super agent.
Most notable role: “Dr. No”
2. Daniel Craig, three films.
Why: Craig was able to bring the role of Bond into the modern era. While previous films with Pierce Brosnan might feel dated and trying to hold on to the ‘60s and ‘70s Bond, Daniel Craig ushers in a new era that makes Bond feel like an action star in the 21st century.
Most notable role: “Skyfall”
3. Timothy Dalton, two films.
Why: Despite having two of the more successful Bond films in terms of box office numbers, Dalton remains largely forgotten in his role. Dalton’s Bond was completely different from his predecessor, Roger Moore, creating a more serious and darker Bond, who even disliked some of his missions.
Most notable role: “License to Kill”
4. Roger Moore, seven films.
Why: Some might put Roger Moore higher on the list, but given his often-comedic performance, he only made a mediocre Bond. He fit the role of spy well, but lacked when it came to action. Perhaps he was better suited to the role of a more mature spy than Bond. One thing that drags him down is his age. Moore was 45 when he starred in his first Bond movie, which makes him older than every Bond but Brosnan when they retired.
Most notable role: “The Man with the Golden Gun”
5. George Lazenby, one film.
Why: Lazenby is largely unremembered as James Bond. He only managed to make one movie and was considered to be a horrible rendition of Bond despite meeting the look and doing most of his own stunts. He became a pop culture reference for being a forgettable and non-iconic James Bond. This reference has been made to compare other actors playing iconic roles such as George Clooney being called the George Lazenbye of “Batman,” although the rubber batsuit nipples might have done in his performance more than any other factor.
Most notable role: “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”
6. Pierce Brosnan, four films.
Why: It might seem as though Brosnan would make it higher up on the list. However, looking back on his films, his portrayal is over the top, cheesy and seems to only have a strong following based on the strength of the franchise at that point. Perhaps a little bit of Brosnan’s success as Bond, comes from the incredibly popular video game attached to “GoldenEye,” which often tops lists of the top video games ever made.
Most notable role: “GoldenEye”
